Instead of having an extremely light colour scheme, which may be bland, or an extremely dark colour scheme, which may be heavy, you may want to try mixing these colours and give the façade a better balance - for example a lighter brick with a dark roof. Lighter, neutral toned bricks also have the same effect as a render, minus the maintennance.
